Begin Your Residency Where Quality Meets Purpose
The Chickasaw Nation PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program offers two positions each year within an award-winning tribal health system dedicated to quality, compassion and community. Located in south-central Oklahoma, this ASHP-accredited program provides advanced clinical training while nurturing professional growth and cultural awareness.
As part of the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health (CNDH), you’ll join a collaborative team of pharmacists, nurses and physicians committed to enhancing the overall quality of life of the communities we serve. Here, curiosity sparks innovation, collaboration shapes practice and belonging drives excellence.
You’ll gain experience in inpatient and outpatient settings, providing care across therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, disease state management and consultative services.

Pharmacists at the Center of Health Care Innovation
Pharmacists are leaders in every aspect of our growing health system—from administration and billing to clinical disease state management and decentralized care. Our residents practice at the top of their licensure, supported by a culture that values professional autonomy and collaborative decision-making.

Comprehensive Clinical Experiences
Experience rotations in family medicine, outpatient and inpatient care, emergency medicine, and specialty clinics.
You’ll manage pharmacy-based anticoagulation and lipid clinics under expert supervision and engage with diverse patient populations across complex clinical cases. These experiences prepare you for competitive PGY2 programs or direct clinical practice in advanced care settings.

Personalized Mentorship and Professional Growth
With only two residents selected annually, you’ll receive personalized mentorship from experienced preceptors who tailor learning to your goals. Professional development opportunities include:

Licensure: Successful candidates must obtain Oklahoma licensure within three months of starting the program. Licensure is not required to apply.

Do I need to be Native American to rotate or job shadow at CNDH?
Native American heritage is not a requirement. While preference is given to Chickasaw citizens, our primary goal is to offer exceptional learning experiences to dedicated health care students.

Our housing and meal support varies by program. Medical students may be eligible for housing accommodations and meal support through their university stipend.
