Position Overview

The Chickasaw Nation Department of Health (CNDH) seeks a skilled Oral Surgeon to join our team performing a full scope of oral maxillofacial surgeries in a supportive hospital and adjoining dental clinic setting. In this position, you will work independently while having access to comprehensive support systems including in-house laboratory and imaging services. You will serve an exceptionally appreciative First American patient population, creating meaningful professional relationships and deeply rewarding clinical experiences within our industry-standard practice environment.

  • Modern Facility: Equipped with surgical chairs inside enclosed operatories

Call Schedule & Coverage

  • Four 10-hour shifts from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday
  • Limited, shared on-call schedules with registered nurses available for conscious sedation cases
  • All federal holidays observed with clinic closure

  • Comprehensive electronic management records (EMR) system - Transitioning to EPIC EMR in 2025

Qualifications

  • Completed an American Dental Association accredited dental program (DDS or DMD)
  • Documentation of work in active dental practice during the last 12 months or recent completion of an accredited program
  • Board Certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Current unrestricted state license and eligible for an Oklahoma license
  • Current unrestricted DEA number (Preferred)
  • Certification of residency program for specialty (Preferred)
  • Familiar with Joint Commission Accreditation (JCAHO) requirements (Preferred)

This position is located within the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health (CNDH) at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center (CNMC) Dental Clinic. The purpose of this position is to perform specialty dental services within the scope consistent with established professional standards and health system policies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provides age-appropriate comprehensive dental care to patients including pain relief procedures, preventive dental care, and therapeutic dental care in dental clinic and surgical procedures in Operating Room of CNMC facility as appropriate to specialty and privileges
  • Ensures continuity of care
  • Serves on and/or facilitates department meetings, conferences, committees, and/or workgroups as assigned
  • Treats all patients and family with care and respect and maintain a cooperative attitude with fellow employees to facilitate quality patient care
  • Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities
  • Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types
  • Maintains general upkeep of work area and maintains a safe environment
  • Maintains and promotes professionalism
  • Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics
  • Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards
  • Maintains knowledge of and follows all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc.
  • Makes appropriate referrals as needed
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education:

  • Doctorate of Dentistry
  • Must have completed an American Dental Association accredited dental program (DDS or DMD) Show documentation of completion of specialty dental program

Experience:

  • 1 year directly related experience

Licenses:

  • Pass general background check
  • Unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration Number
  • Unrestricted State Dental License
