Description

This position is located within the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health (CNDH) in the Ada Primary Care Clinic located in the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center (CNMC), or in the Satellite Health Clinics located in Ardmore, Purcell and Tishomingo. The purpose of this position is to provide specialty care dealing with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of ailments in patients of all ages. The Family Practitioners do not take call and work during clinic hours Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to the CNDH Medical Staff Bylaws and Policies and Procedures
  • Maintains a competent, considerate and objective professional relationship with patients to minimize complaints, dissatisfaction or adverse impact regarding services
  • Serves on clinic, hospital committees and performance improvement teams as assigned by the Chief of Primary Care or Chief of Staff
  • Participates in continuing medical education as required by the Oklahoma Board of Licensure
  • Treats all patients with respect and maintains a cooperative attitude with other employees to facilitate quality patient care
  • Responsible for continuity of care of family medicine and provides timely requests for schedule changes, vacation, sick leave and continuing medical education leave to the Chief of Primary Care
  • Maintains sensitivity to Native American culture
  • Provides comprehensive medical services in Primary Care Clinic
  • Acts as a consultant to other physicians in the hospital, Fast Track Clinic, outpatient clinics and emergency medicine department
  • Manages therapeutic programs, conveys information to family members during treatment, and supports patients and family members and timely maintenance of adequate records detailing these activities
  • Participates in ongoing continuing and in-service education programs for all health professionals in the facility
  • Participates in ongoing committees and meetings involving the operation and leadership of the health clinic in collaboration with all department heads, clinic coordinator, nursing and all ancillary services
  • Provides supervision, support, education and guidance to mid-level practitioners who are providing patient care as members of the Primary Care Department
  • Adheres to Oklahoma State Board of Licensure rules for sponsorship of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners
  • Attends at least one medical staff meeting at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center every quarter of calendar year
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Typical Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess and/or be willing to develop and enhance the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential job functions

Education:

  • Have successfully completed a post-graduate residency in Family Practice accredited by the ACGME, AOA or have comparable experience and training
Training and Experience:
  • Be able to document that he/she has been working in a Family Practice setting during the last 12 months

  • Emergency Department or similar experience may be submitted for consideration as well

Credentials:

  • Hold valid, unrestricted State licensure for practice and be eligible for Oklahoma license
  • Current Unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration Number
  • Current board certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in Family Practice by the American Academy of Family Practice or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice

Physical Requirements:

  • Position may require long periods of sitting, standing, reaching, lifting and bending to perform procedures

Working Environment:

  • Work may require the use of surgical mask, gloves and/or eyeglasses
  • There may be the danger of exposure to radiation, communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens and/or airborne debris
