Description

We are currently looking for a Full Time Dental Assistant Specialty II to join our Dental Specialty team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.

Summary

Performs clerical and clinical duties in the dental clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types
    • Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner
    • Partners with internal and external services as needed to ensure appropriate referral is made

    • Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics

  • Maintains knowledge of and follows all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc.
  • Manages and order office inventory, equipment, uniforms and/or other operational supplies
  • Answers the phone, transfers calls, takes messages and screens calls per guidelines for areas served
  • Prepares restorative materials for dental procedures
  • Performs coronal polishing procedures as instructed by dentist
  • Places and removes dental dam
  • Applies topical anesthetic as instructed by dentist
  • Applies sealants on teeth as instructed by dentist
  • Applies topical fluoride as instructed by dentist
  • Operates dental x-ray equipment
  • Advocates and participates in patient and patient family education i.e., diagnosis, medications and discharge instructions
  • Records care given and reports patient care observations
  • Maintains and documents intake and output
  • Collects patient data in initial screening and documents as necessary
  • Assists provider with diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures, exams, specimen collection and other care as directed
  • Assists patients in scheduling appointments
  • Facilitates communication between the patient and the medical staff
  • Facilitates consults, referrals, and form completion as requested and approved by the medical staff
  • Assists with orientation, special activities and training on specific procedures, tasks or equipment
  • May transport items within the Chickasaw Nation with an emphasis in and around assigned area
  • Cleans, disinfects, assembles, packages, records, sterilizes, and stores all instruments and equipment used for patient care
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Typical Qualifications

Skills:

  • Basic computer skills

Experience:

  •  3 years directly related experience
Education:
  • High School, GED or Equivalent
  • Technical School

Credentials:

  • Pass general background check
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Coronal Polishing Topical Fluoride Permit
  • Nitrous Oxide Permit
  • Radiation Safety Permit
  • Sealants Permit
