Description
We are currently looking for a Full Time Dental Assistant II to join our Dental Clinic Unit 2 team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.
Summary
Performs clerical and clinical duties in the dental clinic.
Responsibilities
- Answers the phone, transfers calls, takes messages and screens calls per guidelines for areas served
- Prepares restorative materials for dental procedures
- Performs coronal polishing procedures as instructed by dentist
- Places and removes dental dam
- Applies topical anesthetic as instructed by dentist
- Applies sealants on teeth as instructed by dentist
- Applies topical fluoride as instructed by dentist
- Operates dental x-ray equipment
- Advocates and participates in patient and patient family education i.e., diagnosis, medications and discharge instructions
- Records care given and reports patient care observations
- Maintains and documents intake and output
- Collects patient data in initial screening and documents as necessary
- Assists provider with diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures, exams, specimen collection and other care as directed
- Assists patients in scheduling appointments
- Facilitates communication between the patient and the medical staff
- Facilitates consults, referrals, and form completion as requested and approved by the medical staff
- Cleans, disinfects, assembles, packages, records, sterilizes, and stores all instruments and equipment used for patient care
- Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types
- Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner
- Partners with internal and external services as needed to ensure appropriate referral is made
- Greets and engages with a smile

- Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities
- Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types

- Maintains knowledge of and follows all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc.

Skills:
Experience:
- 1 year directly related experience
Education:
- High School, GED or Equivalent
- Technical School
Credentials:
- Pass general background check
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Coronal Polishing Topical Fluoride Permit
- Sealants Permit
